JAMES EDWARD BATES/SUN HERALD
A barge from the former Grand Casino Biloxi rests next to the old Tivoli Hotel on the north side of U. S. 90/Beach Blvd. in Biloxi, Miss., on August 30, 2005, the morning after Hurricane Katrina struck the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The Tivoli was demolished. The Grand Casino moved it's operations to the north side of U. S. 90 after state legislators changed to law to allow casinos to move gambling operations within 800 ft. of the water. Prior to Hurricane Katrina, all gambling on the Mississippi Gulf Coast had to be on the water.
